ABANDONED MINE MANAGEMENT

It is of vital importance to control underground caverns which may have resulted from decades of exploitation of raw material in former mining areas. Therefore, Anger’s offers monitoring wells in order to contribute to abandoned mine management.

Tunnel, shafts and caverns in former mines may become unstable and impose danger even decades after the exploitation of raw materials such as coal, ores and salt has ended. There may be a change in groundwater levels or movements of the rock surrounding the former mines.

The decline of mining activities and the closure of mines have rendered abandoned mine management more and more important. Thus, the groundwater level can be observed and monitored by means of wells, for example. Furthermore, instruments can be run in in wells so as to detect rock movements in time. This is the only way to ensure the safety of the population and surrounding areas close to former mines.
